UBA, Ecobank, Fidelitybank, First Bank of Nigeria International Spending Limits Increased

In a move intended to enable more convenient and seamless transactions when making purchases outside Nigeria, Ecobank, UBA, GTBank and First Bank of Nigeria have increased the monthly international spending limits on their Naira cards which are enabled for international online transactions.
First Bank of Nigeria has raised the limits on international transactions on Naira Cards to $1,100 monthly across ATMs, PoS, and online channels, with the daily ATM withdrawals raised to $300. However, customers in UAE and China have a monthly limit of $250 for PoS and Online transactions.
The United Bank for Africa Plc announced an upward review of the monthly international spend limit on its debit and prepaid naira cards from $100 to $2,000. The upward review allows customers to withdraw up to $2,000 per month as against $100 which was obtainable previously.
Before now, international transactions were suspended on Ecobank Mastercard but going forward, Ecobank account holders can now use their Naira denominated Ecobank MasterCard for international transactions and enjoy a monthly limit of $1,000, same as the 2017 GTbank international spending limit . Ecobank also set $750 and $300 limits for its gold and standard card holders respectively.
Similarly, Fidelity bank of Nigeria has raised the monthly international spend limit on its naira Visa credit and debit card transactions to $1,000.
While some of the Nigerian banks claim that the increase had been done in response to the growing demand for higher limits by customers making international transactions, some sources claim that the increase is as a result of the improved foreign exchange supply for Nigerian banks.

Whatever the reason may be, I hope Zenith bank, Diamond bank, Sterling bank, Access bank, FCMB and other Nigerian banks will also increase the monthly international spending limits on their payment cards.
